5x - 4y =  - 1 =  =  =  =  =  =    > (1)

2x - y = 5 =  =  =  =  =  =  =   > (2)

Multiply the first equation by 2 and second equation by 5, so that the x's will cancel out:

10x - 8y =  - 2

10x  - 5 y = 25

 ‎ Then subtract:

 - 3y =  - 27

y =   9

substitute y back into one of the original equation

( I choose 5x-4y=-1 )

5x - 4 (  9) =  - 1

5x  -  \: 36 =  - 1

5x =  - 1  +  36

5x = 35

x =  \dfrac{35}{5}

x = 7

Hope it helps you.........❤️❤️
