Required Answer:-

Given:

  • 5x - 4y + 8 = 0
  • 7x + 6y - 9 = 0

To find:

  • The value of x and,
  • The value of y.

Solution:

Given,

➡ 5x - 4y + 8 = 0

➡ 5x - 4y = -8 —(i)

Again,

➡ 7x + 6y - 9 = 0

➡ 7x + 6y = 9 —(ii)

Multiplying equation (i) by 6, we get,

➡ 30x - 24y = -48 —(iii)

Multiplying equation (ii) by 4,we get,

➡ 28x + 24x = 36 —(iv)

Adding equations (iii) and (iv), we get,

➡ 58x = -12

➡ x = -12/58

➡ x = -6/29

Now,

➡ 7x + 6y - 9 = 0

➡ (7 × -6)/29 + 6y = 9

➡ -42/29 + 6y = 9

➡ 6y = 9 + 42/29

➡ 6y = (9 × 29 + 42)/29

➡ 6y = 303/29

➡ y = 303/(29 × 6)

➡ y = 101/58

Hence,

x = -6/29 and,

y = 101/58

Answer:

  • x = -6/29 and
  • y = 101/58
