2x - 3( -1 -5x) +8

2x + 3 + 15x = -8

17x = -8 -3

17x = -11

x = -11/17

Putting the value of x in equation 1

y = -1 - 5x

y = -1 - 5(-11/17)

y = -1 +55/17

y = (-17+55)/17

y = 38/17
