- 24y = 20

y = - 20/24

y = - 5/6

Substituting this in equation 1

5x - 5/6 = 35

5x = 35 + 5/6

5x = 210 + 5 /6

5x = 215/6

x = 215/6 x 5

x = 43/6

So the value of x and y are 43/6 and - 5/6
