Let the present age of summit of be =x

And

Let the present age of his sister be = y

Now:-

5 years ago

Age of summit would be = (x - 5)

According to the question

(x - 5) = 3(y - 5) ...... equation 1

X = 2y. as given the present age of summit is 2 the present age of his sister.


Now, put Value of X in equation 1


Y=10


So, present age of his sister is 10 years

And


Present age of summit is 20 year's..

present age of sumit be 2x.

age of sister = x - 5

age of sumit = 2x - 5

acc to ques, 5 yrs ago,

age of sumit was 3 times the age of his sister.

means 5 yrs ago his age was 3(x - 5)

so, 2x-5 = 3(3x-5)

2x - 5 = 3x - 15

x = 15 - 5

x = 10

so, present of sumit = 2x = 2 x 10 = 20 years
