5 years hence,

(x+5)= 3 (y+5)

x+5= 3y+15

x-3y+5-15=0

x-3y-10=0 ....... (1)

5 years ago,

(x-5) = 7 (y-5)

x-5= 7y-35

x-7y-5+35=0

x-7y+30=0 ....... (2)

From equations 1 and 2,

x -3y -10=0

x -7y +30=0

Hence, the age of his son is 10 years.

Now, substitute the value of y in equation 2;
