Solution:

We have to combine the terms, i.e., to evaluate them in a simpler form.

Now 6 (1/2w - 3/4)

Use distributive property for real numbers.

So we get

6 (1/2w) - 6 (3/4)

Remember: a * (b + c) = a * b + a * c

a * (b - c) = a * b - a * c

Further we get

6/2w - 18/4

= 3/w - 9/2

This is the required evaluation.

Note: The problem, you sent is not sufficient to understand combination of terms. I am giving another example.

Let us take an expression:

a + bx + cy + ab (x - y)

We have combine like terms.

Following: a + bx + cy + abx - aby

Here x, y are variables and a, b are numerical values.

We have:

a + bx + abx + cy - aby

= a + (b + ab)x + (c - ab)y
