The present age of Ashwini and her mother.

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the age of Ashwini's mother is 5 years more than twice of Ashwini's age.

Let present age of Ashwini = x

∴ Present age of Ashwini's mother = 2x + 5

After 10 years,

Ashwini's mother's age

= 2x + 5 + 10

= 2x + 15

Ashwini's age = x + 10

So by the given condition

2x + 15 = 3x - 8

$\implies \sf{2x - 3x = - 8 - 15 }$

$\implies \sf{ - x = - 23}$

$\implies \sf{ x = 23}$

Hence present age of Ashwini = 23 years

Present age of Ashwini's mother

= ( 2 × 23 ) + 5 years

= 46 + 5 years

= 51 years
