3 men can do the work in 14 days so one man can do it in 42 days i.e. rate of work is 1/42

9 boys can do the work in 14 days so one boy can do it in 126 days i.e. rate of work is 1/126

Now to find total work done by 5 men + 6 boys in a day is

5 x 1/42 + 6 x 1/126

= 21/126

= 1/6

So 5 men and 6 boys working together would take 6 days to complete the work
