Questions :

6. A car travels a distance of 200 km in 5 hr. Calculate its speed into m/s.

7. The train A' travelled a distance of 120 km in 3 hours whereas another train 'B travelled distance of 180 km in 4 hours. Which train goes faster?

8. What is a distance-time man ?

Solutions :

6) Distance travelled by the car in 5 hr = 200 km

  • Speed = Distance/Time

  • Speed = 200/5 km/h → 40 km/h

Converting into m/sec we get

1 km/h = 5/18 m/sec

40 km/h = 40 × 5/18 m/sec → 11.11 m//sec

So the speed is 11.11 m/sec

7) Train A travelled 120 km in 3 hrs

We know that :

Speed = Distance/Time

Speed = 120/3

Speed = 40 km/h

∴ Train A travels at a speed of 40 km/h

Train B travelled 180 km in 4 hrs

Formula :

Speed = D/T

Speed = 180/4

Speed = 45 km/h

∴ Train B travels at a speed of 45 km/h

By comparing both the speeds we get to know that Train B travelled faster

8) Distance = Speed x Time

For a certain distance, if the ratio of speeds is x : y, then the ratio of times taken to cover the distance would be y : x and vice versa.
