6. A car travels first 30 km with a uniform speed of
60 km h-1 and then next 30 km with a uniform speed
of 40 km h-!. Calculate : (i) the total time of journey,

Total distance covered by car = 60 km

And, total time taken in journey t=t1+t2  

t=s1/v1+s2/v2

=30/60+30/40=5/4h

therefore, Average speed=Total Distance /total time=60/5/4hr=48km/hr

30/60 + 30/40 = 1/2 +3/4 = 5/4

5/4 hour x 60 = 75 min.

Avg spd = total distance/total time
