Answer:
(b) Compound Microscope
Explanation:
- The light microscope, which is used in laboratories is called a compound microscope because of the presence of two types of lenses (ocular and objective) to magnify the object. The source which is used to see the object or specimen is light (either sunlight or other) but because of two lenses for the proper magnification, it is called a compound microscope. The ocular lens is closest to the eye whereas the objective lens is closest to the object. The total magnification is the magnification achieved by the ocular lens multiplied by the magnification achieved by the objective lens.
- There are four types of objective lenses present in the microscope above the stage region; the scanning lens, the low-power lens, the high-power lens, and the oil immersion lens with the power 4X, 10X, 40X, and 100X, respectively.
- The diaphragm on the condenser, below the stage region, controls the amount of light coming through it. It can be manually controlled. Fine and coarse adjustments are also present to see the specimen with proper focusing. The resolving power can be increased by using the oil immersion lens after putting some oil on the slide.
