Given:-

  • Radius of curvature ,R = 30cm

  • Focal length , f = -30cm

  • Object- distance = -15cm

To Find:-

  • Image distance & Magnification

Solution:-

The shaving mirror is concave mirror.

By using mirror formula

• 1/v +1/u = 1/f

Substitute the value we get

→ 1/v = 1/f - 1/u

→ 1/v = 1/-30 - 1/(-15)

→ 1/v = -1/30 +1/15

→ 1/v = -1+2/30

→ 1/v = 1/30

→ v = + 30cm

The image- distance is 30cm

Positive sign show the image formed is Virtual.

Now , Calculating the Magnification

• m = -v/u

Substitute the value we get

→ m = -30/-15

→ m = 2cm

The magnification of the mirror is 2cm
