Given :-

  • A man spends (1/3) of His salary on Rent.
  • (2/5)th of Rest on Food.
  • Saves Rest which is Rs.4200 .

To Find :-

  • His Total income ?

Solution :-

Let His Total income is Rs.x .

→ Spend on Rent = (1/3) of Total income = (x/3)..

→ Left income = x - (x/3) = (2x/3)

Now,

Spend on Food = (2/5)th of Rest = (2/5) of (2x/3) = (2/5) * (2x/3) = (4x/15).

So,

Left income After Spending on Food = (2x/3) - (4x/15) = (10x - 4x) /15 = (6x/15) = (2x/5) .

Now, given That, he saves Rest and that is Rs.,4200.

Therefore,

(2x/5) = 4200

→ 2x = 4200 * 5

→ x = 2100 * 5

→ x = Rs.10,500 (Ans.)

Hence, His Total income is Rs.10,500.

\huge\tt{GIVEN:}

  • a man spends 1/3 of his salary on rent
  • 2/5 of the rest on food
  • He saved 4200

\huge\tt{TO~FIND:}

  • His income

_______________________

\huge\tt{SOLUTION:}

Let his income be x

↪ Money spent of rent = (x/3)

↪Left balance = x -(x/3) = (2x/3)

_______________________

Then,

↪Money spent on the food = (2/5) of (2x/3)

=> (2/5)×(2x/3)

=> (4x/15)

_______________________

As in this case, we know that he saves ₹ 4,200

Henceforth,

➡(2x/5) = 4,200

➡2x = 2,100

➡x = ₹10,500
