we know the area of a rectangle is l*b

and area of a square is s*s

so first we shall find the area of the room then area of the carpet then subtract it so

l*b

12.5*8

= 100m^2

now,

s*s

8*8

=64m^2

now to find the area which is not carpeted

100-64m^2

= 36m^2
