1.6kms.

Step-by-step explanation:

let,the distance to school be X km,

and time be t mins,

given that when he goes at 2km/hr = (2 /60) km/min,he reaches X Kms in (t+6)mins,

we know that distance = speed * time,

=> X = (2/60) * (t+6) Kms,------> (1)

also given that,

when he goes at 3km/hr = (3/60) km/min,

he reaches school 10mins early,

therefore,

X = (3/60) * (t-10) Kms,------->(2)

from (1) & (2),

(2/60) * (t+6) = (3/60) * (t-10),

=> 2t+12 = 3t-30,

=> t = 42mins.

therefore,

distance to school will be,

X = (2/60) * (42+6),

=> X = 8/5 = 1.6 Kms.
