Answer :

A wire of resistance 10Ω is divided into two halves and both are connected in parallel.

We have to find equivalent resistance of the connection.

We know that, resistance of conductor is directly proportional to the length.

  • R ∝ l

ATQ, Wire is divided into two halves so resistance of each part will be 5Ω.

Equivalent of parallel connection is given by

  • 1/Rp = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

By substituting the values, we get

➝ 1/Rp = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

  • R₁ = R₂ = R

➝ 1/Rp = 1/R + 1/R

➝ 1/Rp = 2/R

➝ Rp = 5/2

Rp = 2.5Ω
