Given: Average of 10 terms is 6.

To find: new average if each term is  (i) divided by 2 (ii) 3 is  added to each term (iii) 4 is subtracted from each term.

Solution:

  • Now we have given that average of 10 terms is 6. So total sum will be 60.
  • For first case if  each term is divided by 2, then new sum will be:

                  60 / 2 /10

                  30/10

                  3

  • For second case if 3 is added to each term, then new average will be:

                  60 + (10x3) / 10(multiplied by 10 because 3 is added in every 6)

                  60 + 30 / 10

                  90 / 10

                  9

  • For third case, If 4 is subtracted from each term, then new average will be:

                  60 - (10x4) / 10

                  60 - 40 / 10

                  20 / 10

                  2

Answer:

So the averages are: (i) 3, (ii) 9, (iii) 2

Answer:

(1) if multiple

= 10×6=60

(2)if 2 is divided is divided by each term

= 6 / 2 = 3

(3) if 3 is added to each term

= 6 +3 = 9

(4) if 4 is substract to each term

= 6 - 4 = 2.

so, the averages are 60,3,9,2....(ans)
