The Bhimbetka caves can be found Southeast of Bhopal in the foothills of the vindhyan mountains.These rocks shelters inhabited by people of the lower palaeolithic and mesolithic era . Various tools and remains have been found here. However, bhimbetka is best known for its cave paintings. These paintings show various scenes common to the hunting -gatherings economy.They even have a close resemblance to the cultural traditions of people living in nearby villages
