The basic difference between biodegradable and non-biodegradable is that biodegradable items decompose or break down naturally. Non-biodegradable items don't. This particular difference is most important when discussing landfills and waste disposal. Large volumes of non-biodegradable waste take up excess waste and are potentially damaging to the environment. Pop cans and plastic sandwich bags range from 100 to 450 years. Certain items, including polystyrene cups, car tires and glass bottles may never decompose.

Hope it helps!!
