The filament break up into two or more fragments upon maturation these fragments grow into new individuals is known as fragmentation And the plants having the ability to repair themselves or grow lost parts these plants are known as regeneration.

Difference between Fragmentation nd Regeneration :-

1) Fragmentation is limited to invertebrates.

1) Regeneration is present in both vertebrates and invertebrates.

2) Fragmentation is a method of reproduction (E.g. Reproduction in star fish)

2) Regeneration can be used as a reproduction method or it can be used to regenerate lost body parts.

3) In fragmentation, each fragment produces new organisms.

3) In regeneration, when it is not for reproduction, the separated part does not grow into a new organism.

4) Fragmentation is more commonly seen in plants than in animals (E.g. Non-vascular plants).

4) Regeneration is more commonly seen in animals than in plants.
