The Rashtrakuta kingdom was founded by Dantidurga who fixed his capital at Manyakhet near Modem Sholapur.
The Palas empire was founded by Gopala probably in 750.
Mahmud of Ghazni was more of a fanatic who wanted to spread Islam in India. He destroyed temples and idols of Hindu gods. His attacks were mostly directed on the religious places of the Hindus. Ghori on the other hand directed his attacks on important towns and forts.
The Tripartite Struggle for control of northern India took place in the ninth century. The struggle was between the Pratihara Empire, the Pala Empire and the Rashtrakuta Empire. Towards the end of the successor of Nagabhata II, successfully attacked Kanauj and established control there.
