Answer:
Sedimentary rocks are formed when sediment is deposited out of air, ice, wind, gravity, or water flows carrying the particles in suspension. This sediment is often formed when weathering and erosion break down a rock into loose material in a source area.
Rock scroll down, crack, and hit each other and are broken down into small fragments. These sediments are transported and deposited by wind , water etc. These loose elements are compressed and hardened to form layers of rocks. These types of rocks are called sedimentary rocks.

There are three major types of rocks:
- igneous rocks
- sedimentary rocks
- metamorphic rocks
↦ Igneous rocks: The primary rocks formed by cooling and solidification of molten magma inside or on the earth.
↦ Sedimentary rocks: Hardened layers of rocks, compacted and cemented due to heavy overlying pressure.
↦ Metamorphic rocks: Rocks which has changed its original form without disintegrating.
