We have to find the kinetic energy of 3 litre of a gas at STP and standard pressure is 1.013 × 10⁵ N/m²

solution : volume of gas , V = 3 litres = 3 × 10¯³ m³ [ as 1 litre = 10¯³ m³ ]

pressure of gas, P = 1.013 × 10⁵ N/m²

according to kinetic theory of gases,

kinetic energy of an ideal gas is given by, K.E = 3/2 PV

⇒K.E = 3/2 × 3 × 10¯³ × 1.013 × 10⁵

= 4.5 × 1.013 × 10²

= 4.5585 × 10²

= 455.85 J

Therefore the kinetic energy of gas is 455.85 J
