Surface water and groundwater are the significant sources for water supply and requirements.

Explanation:

  • There are three main sources of water: 1) groundwater, ii) surface water and iii) rainwater.
  • Our drinking water arrives from natural sources that are either groundwater or surface water.
  • Groundwater or the underground water that gets stored from rain and snow that melts and penetrates into the ground. Also we use water wells or bore wells to harvest the groundwater.
  • Surface water is the gets collected on the surface of the ground and called as river, lake etc.,
  • Seawater is utilized in some of the countries by desalination process (the removal of salts from water) that used to produce drinking water.
  • Untreated rainwater might have impurities and salts which were vaporisation by the sun from earth. However, the rain water we receive is not always pure, it might bring down impurities and particles evaporated along with it.
