To increase the girth of the plant, cambium must be present in the plant. It is because cambium plays the role of increasing the girth.

But mono cot plants lacks cambium in their plant body system. So maize does not have cambium as it is a mono cot plant.

Therefore, due to non existence of cambium in their body, Girth of Maize does not get increased.
