it is difficult to see bright colours in dim light because in our eyes the rods cannot take in light and form the image as black and white.

we cannot taste the food during severe cold because during cold, our taste buds closes or gets blocked.

i) Reason: It is usually difficult for us to see bright colours in dim light:

The colour vision is due to photoreceptor cones cell of eye. Rods and cones cells are sensitive to light. It is difficult to see bright colour in dim because the rod cells cannot take in light hence forms the black and white images.

ii) Reason: During severe cough and cold we lose taste of food:

This is due to clogged nose because of severe cough and cold. Due to smell of food our brain recognize the taste of food and hence tempts to eat, but during cold condition, out nose is accumulated and restricts the smell process by brain hence we lose the taste of food and we hence eat less food during cold condition.
