2Mg + O2 ~~ 2MgO

atomic mass of mg is 12

atomic mass of o2 is 32

2*12 mg  =  32 o2

the amount of oxygen required to react with one gram of mg = 32/24 g

therefore the amount of oxygen required to react with 50 grams of mg =

(32/24)*50 = 200/3 = 66.67 grams of o2
