6. How much distance will be covered by an ant in travelling once around the given figure?

Given  : Two figures

To find : distance will be covered by an ant in travelling once around the given figure

Solution:

Fig 1 :

Diameter = 2.8 cm

=> radius  = 2.8/2 = 1.4 cm

Distance covered = Semi circle perimeter + Diameter

Semi circle perimeter= (1/2)2πr =  πr

= (22/7)1.4  + 2.8

= 4.4  + 2.8

= 7.2  cm

Fig 2 :

1.5 + 2.8  + 1.5  +  4.4

= 10. 2 cm
