Given:

Equation 1 -

Equation 2 -

To Find:

Value of x + y

Solution

4x + 6y = 12 - ( Multiply by 3 )

6x + 4y = 8 - ( Multiply by 2)

12x + 18y = 36

12x + 8y = 16

-      -         -

On solving we will get -

10y = 20

y = 20/10

y = 2

Substituting value of y in equation 1 -

4x + 6(2) = 12

4x +12 = 12

4x = 0

x = 0

Now since x = 0 and y = 2.

Thus, - x +y will be -

= 0 + 2

= 2

Answer: Value of x + y is 2.
