let the no. be 100
10% increase = 100 × 10% of 100
= 100 × 10/100 × 100
= 100 +10
= 110 is no. after 10% increase
10% decrease on no. = 110 - 10% of 110
= 110- 11
= 99 is no. after decrease
So, decrease in total =11 is decrease
decrease % = 11 / 99×100
= 11.11 %
Answer = E. none of these

sushant2404: sorry but your answer is wrong. right answer is 1% decrease
dikshayadav: but in question it is said that first 10% is increased then 10% is decreased so 10% will be decreased on the no. which we will get after increment of 10% on the no.

1% decrease

let the original number be x. then 10% increase is (110/100)*x
when the number is deceased be 10%, then answer is [(90/100) * (110/100)*x] which finally equals [99/100 * x] or 99 percent of x.
which means 1% decrease
