Answer:
Let the number be x and y .
from the given data ,
we get:
= 2x - 16 = 1/2 y
= 4x - 32 = y
= 4x - y = 32 .......... ( i )
and ,
= 1/2x - 1 = 1/2y
= 2 ( 1/2x - 1 ) = 1y
= 1x -1 = 1y
so, x - 1 = y
= x = y- 1 ......... ( ii )
solve (i) and (ii) equation ,
we get
=4x - y = 32
= 4 ( y - 1 ) - y = 32
= 4y - 4 - y = 32
= 3y = 32 + 4
= 3y = 36
y = 12 .
Then ,
x = y - 1
= x = 12 - 1
= x = 11 .
Therefore the value of x is 11 and y is 12
