Answer:

For a 12 m high mast, the height of mast of model ship =9 cm=0.09m

For a 1 m high mast, the height of mast of model ship =

12

0.09 m

Therefore, the ratio of dimensions of model ship and actual ship =

12

0.09 m

For a 1 m long ship, length of model ship =

12

0.09 m

For a 28 m long ship, length of model ship =

12

0.09 m

∗28=0.21m=21 cm

Given :-

In a model of a ship, the mast is 9 cm high.

The  mast of the actual ship is 12 m high.

The length of  the ship is 28 m.

To Find :-

Length of the model ship.

Analysis :-

Consider the length of the model ship as a variable.

Make an equation accordingly.

Then solve the variable and get it's value.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • l = Length
  • h = Height

Let the length of model ship be 'x'.

According to the question,

Length of mast and actual length of ship are in direct proportion.

Now,

\sf \dfrac{12}{9} =\dfrac{28}{x}

By transposing,

\sf x \times 12 =28 \times 9

\sf x=\dfrac{28 \times 9}{12}

\sf x=21 \ cm

Therefore, the model ship is 21 cm long.
