6. In a school some of the students opted for the NSS and some opted
for gardening. Three times the number of students opting for NSS
is 10 less than twice the number of students opting for gardening.
One-third the number of students opting for NSS is equal to one

Answer:

Let NSS = p and gard = q

3p = 2q -10 ..…..(1)

p/3 = q/5 .....(2)

From (2) p =(3/5)×q

put this value of p in (1)

3×(3/5)×q = 2q -10

(9/5)×q - 2q = -10

-q/5 = -10

q = 10×5 = 50

put this value of q in (2)

p/3 =50/5 = 10

p = 10×3 = 30

NSS = 50 and gardening = 30 Ans
