2x + y = 7

(1) find value of y if x= 2

2(2) + y = 7

4 + y = 7

y = 7-4 = 3

y = 3

(2) find value of x if y = -1

2x + ( -1) = 7

2x = 7 - (-1)

2x = 8

x= 8/2

x= 4
