Answer : Groundwater is collected using wells and pumps. Alternatively, it can flow naturally to the surface via seepages or springs. It can be thousands of years old and hence contains a high concentration of minerals from the rocks around which it has been stored. Originally it moved underground through small openings within porous rock material. The porous rock containing the water is called an aquifer, where it is held between layers of non - porous rock thereby trapping it underground.
