Q:3. Notes on :-
a) Amazon River Basin - The Amazon River basin is the area that drains into the Amazon, including all its tributaries. It covers almost half of South America and has great biodiversity. Its value is incalculable. The river basin covers eight South American countries across 2.7 million square miles.
b) Himalayas - The Himalayan Mountains are young fold mountains which run in the west to east direction. They run over about 2,400 km. The width of the mountains varies from 2,400 km in Kashmir to 150 km in Arunachal Pradesh. The Himalayas are divided into three parallel ranges.
c) The coast of Brazil - Brazil has a coastline of about 7400 km. It can be divided into two parts namely the northern and eastern coast. The northern coast extends from Amapa province in the north to Rio de Grande de Norte in the east. It can be called as the North Atlantic coast.
d) The Indian Peninsula - A peninsula is a piece of land which is surrounded by water on three sides. Indian peninsula is surrounded by Arabian sea on the west, Bay of Bengal on the east and Indian ocean on the south. The peninsular land is formed by the Eastern ghats, Western ghats, Deccan plateau, Satpura and Vindhya Ranges.
