Let AB be the length of the ladder and CA be the wall.

The ladder makes an angle of 60∘ with the horizontal.

∴△ABC is 30∘−60∘−90∘ ,right triangle

We have tan60∘=BCAC

⇒AC=3.5×tan60∘

⇒AC=3.5×3m

From Pythagoras theorem, we have

AB2=BC2+CA2

⇒AB2=(3.5)2+(3.5×3)2

⇒AB2=12.25+36.75

⇒AB2=49

∴AB=7m

I hope it will help you.
