Answer:

a) Here from the above question we can say that the colorless compound x is Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate and the white solid is acetic acid.

  • When acetic acid is added to sodium Hydrogen Carbonate then it evolves into the gas CO2 we called it as p.

The reaction is as follows

NaHCO3+ CH3COOH -----> CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O

  • CO2 turns lime water milky. It dissolves in a solution of sodium hydroxide.

b) CO2 + H2O --------> H2CO3

Add colorless Phenolphthalein to lime water the liquid turns pink.

c) Acetic acid liberates CO2 from NaHCO3.

d) When CO2 is added to lime water it forms Calcium carbonate.

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 ----------> CaCO3

Answer:

a) The chemical reaction is the following: CaX + 2H2O → Ca(OH)2 + H2

P is hydrogen gas.

b) Z is a colourless aqueous solution, and the reaction of Y to get Z is as follows: Ca(OH)2 + HCl → CaCl2 + H2O

c) An acid which can liberate P from X is hydrochloric acid (HCl).

d) The reaction of lime water with P is as follows: Ca(OH)2 + H2 → CaX + 2H2O. This reaction is an example of an acid-base neutralization reaction, since H2 is an acid and Ca(OH)2 is a base. When this reaction is carried out, the lime water turns milky due to the formation of tiny particles of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
