6 men and 8 boys can finish a piece of work in 14 days while 8 men and 12 boys can do it in 10 days.Find the time taken by one man alone and that by one boy alone to finish the work.

(6 men + 8 boys )* 14 = ( 8 M + 12 B ) * 10
84 M + 112 B = 80 M + 120 B
so 4M = 8 B
M / B = 2/1 ( work efficiency per day of man and boy ).
Total work -->(6M + 8 B )* 14 =( 12 + 8 )*14= 280
boy alone time ---> total work / boy efficiency = 280/ 1= 280 days
