Step-by-step explanation:

1st choice -> 3 discounts of 10%, 10% & 30%

10,000* 10%= 1000 (remaining amt after deducting discount = 9000)

9000*10% = 900 (remaining amt after deducting discount 8100)

8100*30% = 2430.

So total discount amt = 4330 (1000+900+2430)

2nd choice -> 3 discounts of 40%, 5% & 5%

10,000*40% = 4000 (remaining amt after deducting discount = 6000)

6000*5% = 300 (remaining amt after deducting discount = 5700)

5700*5% = 285

So total discount amt = 4585 (4000+300+285)

Savings = 4585-4330 = 255.

use formula:

total successive discount= [1-{(1-10/100)*(1-10/100)*(1-30/100)}]*100

= 43.30%

discount= 10000*43.30/100= 4330

similarly for second choice= 4585

finally he can save= 4585-4330=255

B) Rs. 225 is your correct answer

(C) Rs. 255 this option u have written wrong.
