Let we assume that 23-1 is a rational number, where it is in the form of p/q form, p and q are co primes and q is not equal to 0.

  • 23-1=p/q
  • 23=p/q-1
  • 3=p/q-1/2

3 is irrational number

p/q-1/2 is a rational number

We know that, rational is not equal to irrational number.

So, it is our contradiction due to wrong assumption.

SO, 23-1 IS A IRRATIONAL NUMBER

HENCE PROVED.......
