6. Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow :- Long hours of sitting, while raising the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, may also threaten brain health, medical researchers said on Thursday after what they described as a “preliminary study.” The study by US researchers has suggested that prolonged sitting appears to be associated with changes in the medial temporal lobe (MTL), a section of the brain critical for formation of new memories. Their study have also suggested that physical activity, even at high levels, is insufficient to offset the harmful effects of prolonged sitting. The researchers speculate that the thinning of the MTL could be a precursor to memory problems or dementia in middle-aged persons or older adults. Boston university researchers had in 2015 observed that people aged between 55 and 82 years who took more steps through either walking or jogging performed better on memory tests than those who were sedentary.Another US study last year had found that people at risk of Alzheimers disease who spend time in moderate physical activity the equivalent of a brisk walk — are more likely to show healthy patterns of glucose metabolism, a measure of brain health and activity.
