Answer:

Robin: x

Father: x + 25

After 10 years, Robin: x + 10 Father: x + 25 + 10 =>2(x+10) =x +35 2x + 20 =x + 35 Therefore, x = 15

= Robin's present age is 15, father's age is 40

Given :

  • Robin is 25 years younger than his father.
  • After 10 years, their ages will be in the ratio 1 : 2.

To Find :

  • Their present ages.

Solution :

Let us assume:

  • Robin's age = x years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25) years

Ages after 10 years.

  • Robin's age = (x + 10) years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25 + 10) years

Finding their ages:

According to the question.

→ (x + 10) / (x + 25 + 10) = 1 / 2

→ 2(x + 10) = 1(x + 25 + 10)

→ 2x + 20 = x + 35

→ 2x - x = 35 - 20

→ x = 15

Their present ages are:

  • Robin's age = x = 15 years
  • Robin's father age = (x + 25) = (15 + 25) = 40 years
