  • Stomata are present on the leaves in epidermis of the plant on either upper side or lower or can be both , covering a few percent part of leave while different leaves or plants can have different positions of stomata on it.

➢ More about Stomata

Stomata, one of the many small openings in the epithelium of leaves, stems, and other plant organs, is a unique structure of plant epidermis . Stomata are usually found in the aerial parts of plants, especially on leaf epidermis, and can also be seen on young stems and petals, but most submerged plants do not.

In a narrow sense, the convex lens-shaped small holes formed between guard cells are often called stomata. The guard cells are different from epidermal cells in that the structure contains chloroplasts , but the volume is small, the number is small, and the lamellar structure is poorly developed, but it can synthesize carbohydrates by photosynthesis. Sometimes it is accompanied by 2-4 auxiliary guard cells adjacent to the guard cells . Including these cells is a generalized stomata (or stomata ). There is a wide cell gap ( air chamber ) immediately below the stomata . The stomata become a path for air and water vapor in gas metabolism such as carbon assimilation , respiration, and transpiration . The throughput is regulated by the opening and closing of guard cells, which is physiologically important.
