Answer:

Given values:

Req = 25 ohm

G = 1000 ohm

Now, the formula for calculating combined resistance of galvanometer and its shunt is:

1/Req = 1/G +  1/S

Where, Req: combined resistance of galvanometer and its shunt

             G: Resistance of galvanometer

      S: Shunt resistance

Let’s solve for S,

1/S =  (1/Req) -  (1/G) =  (G-Req) / (G*Req)

S = (G*Req)/(G-Req)

S = (1000*25)/(1000-25)

S = (25000)/(975)

S = 25.641 ohms

Galvanometer is a device for detecting or measuring small electric current. shunt is connected in parallel combination to the galvanometer.

a/c to question,

The combined resistance of galvanometer of resistance 1000 ohm and its shunt is 25ohm.

means, resistance of galvanometer , G = 1000 ohm

Let resistance of shunt is S

then, equivalent resistance of G and S, R = GS/(G + S)

given equivalent resistance = 25 ohm

or, 25 = 1000S/(1000 + S)

or, 25000 + 25S = 1000S

or, S = 25000/975 = 25.6410256 ≈ 25.64 ohm

hence, resistance of shunt is 25.64 ohm
