let the two no.s be x and y

according to the question,

x-y=40..................1

y/x=6/11...................2

= 11y=6x

= y=6x-11 ...........3

3 in 1

x-(6x-11)=40

x-6x+11=40

-5x=40-11

x= -29/5 ............in 3

y=6(-29/5)-11

y= -174-55/5

y= -229/5

Hope this helps

Step-by-step explanation:

let the two numbers be a ana b

given a-b=40 1st eq

therefore, a is the greater no

acq, b/a=6/11

then, b=6a/11

in 1st eq

a-b=40

a-6a/11=40

5a=440

a=88sol1

a-b=40

88-b=40

-b=-48

b=48 sol2
