Let AC be the ladder's length 10m and BC=8m

Now, in triangle ABC,

(AC) ^2 =(AB) ^2 +(BC) ^2

⇒(AC) ^2 =(AB) ^2 +82

⇒(10) ^2 −64=(AB) ^2

⇒AB= √36

⇒AB=6m

Therefore, the ladder is 6m above the ground.
