13. A tree is broken at a height of 6 m from the ground and its top touches
the ground at a distance of 8 m from the base of the tree. Find the original
height of the tree.​

Answer:

By observing the figure we came to conclude

that right angle triangle is formed at A.

From the rule of pythagoras theorem ,

BC^2 = AB^2 +AC^2

BC^2 =6^2 +8^2

BC^2 = 36 + 64

BC^2 = 100

BC = √square rote of 100 is 10

BC = 10m

Then the original height of the tree =

=AB + BC

6+10

=16m.
