6. Three cubes, each having an edge of 3 cm, are joined together. Find the surface area of the cuboid
thus formed. Is this surface area equal to the surface areas of the three separate cubes?​

Answer:

When 3 cubes of edge 3cm each are joined, a cuboid is formed.

Now, length of cuboid = (3+3+3) cm

=9cm

Breadth of cuboid = 3cm

Height of cuboid =3cm

Surface area of cuboid =2(lb+bh+hl)

=2(9×3+3×3+3×9)

=2(27+9+27)

=2×63

=126cm²

Surface area of cube=6×3²=54cm²

Thus, area of cuboid is not equal to area of separate cubes.
